I hate it when I see dead deer on the highways. It really pisses me off. I'm beginning to see them more frequently. It makes me upset because we are the opes responsible for it. We destroy the land that they live in. Everyday more and more forests get demolished for the sake of putting up more strip malls and beauty salons for the socialites to commute to everyday.It makes me sick because in order for us to be more comfortable in life, we must take over the whole world. Pretty soon, many of the species in the world will be extinct and replaced with pictures in history books.

After seeing rap videos on Mtv, one comes to wonder why inner city ghettos are the way they are. In these videos, the rappers and their colleauges prance around in the flashy visual assault that is supposed to be their lives, in the video. Seeing these rappers potrayed as money weilding, ho grabbin', pimps, makes the youth of today jaded. These kids look up to these musicians, and all the can seem to show them is how it is good to be bad. I have nothing against rappers at all, they are very talented musicians. But they make the youth try to be just like them, little kids running around cursing, selling drugs, treating women with disrespect (NOTE: not all rappers are like this). This gives children a warped sense of reality. Whne you go into the inner cities where these children an teenagers live, it looks nothing like the videos that we see pumped into our brains everyday. There are no Mercedes Benz' in each driveway, no diamond ring bigger than your fist, no designer clothing that cost more than you make in a month, just honest people trying to make a living.

It's hard to fully understand Tyler's words until you have hit bottom. A slave cannot talk of freedom if he has been in chains all his life.
That's why you are here. To hit bottom. And that's why me and Tyler are here. To help you hit bottom.

Tyler says that "hitting bottom isn't a weekend retreat."
Hitting bottom isn't a work leave, it isn't a summer vacation, it isn't a 'fun and weird' experience. Hitting bottom isn't something you can change your mind about later. You have not hit bottom if you have lots of money in the bank "just in case".

Hitting bottom is the road less travelled. It is a life commitment, a marriage of no divorce. Hitting bottom is being free of stress, of salesman, of bills, of mother-in-laws, of bosses, of complaints, of school projects, of boredom, of jealous girlfriends, of fashion, of MTV, of 500 channel cable TV.
Hitting bottom is freedom. Unconditional. Unlimited. Beautiful.

We realize that hitting bottom isn't easy. Some of us can hit bottom overnight, maybe they are braver, maybe they have fewer chains and weaker locks attached to them. But for most of us it is something we have to work on. Gradually.
That is why we are here. To help you with your journey.
To push you. To hold your hand. Maybe even to punch your teeth out.

Take our words to heart. It's probably better than your single parent ever taught you.

The world always hits out on people like us. By hitting bottom, we can't promise the hitting will stop. But we sure as hell will promise, that you'll be able to hit back.

Since the internet came along, many people have been desensitized to the horrors of the world. Nothing I see on the internet anymore surprises me. I've seen murders, rape, pornography, everything. Before the internet, none of this stuff was readily available to even a percentage of the population. With every passing day the world gets a higher dose of reality through webpages. Just 4 years ago, the internet seemed like a passing fad to some, now it is a necessity. People are seriously addicted to the high speed tranfer of information. Making time in their day to check their email. No longer is it normal to send a letter in an envelope to somebody. Instead of it getting to the receiver in 2 days, it's now 2 seconds. Amazing what the world can accomplish. In ten years frpm now we will have wireless computer chips stuck inside our heads and be able to read each other's thoughts. The internet is the antichrist. Too much information to too many people. It's a wonder with all this information circulating around that there are people who are still complete idiots.

Rush, Rush, Rush. Why does everybody always have to rush around. Traffic jams, people honking at each other. What the fuck does honking do? Have you ever gone to a major city, especially NYC? Gridlock for miles and people insist on honking their horns in their cars. All it does is make other people angry. And they wonder why road rage is such a bad issue these days. I wish the world would just take it easy. Nothing is going to change that drastically if you took your time doing whatever. Relax. Have a beer.

Have you ever gone out on a hike or something of the same type thing? I went out the other day to a national park. Walking through the woods, I thought about how people centuries ago did this everyday. Their skyscrapers weren't made of metal, but wood.Their highways were the beaten paths walked on often. God, we have it so easy. Raised with a silver spoon in our mouths, now it's just stuck up our ass, waiting to be pulled out. It's good to get out of the urban myth of happiness and into the rural reality of your ancestry. Whatever your background, your ancestors had it simpler. No deadlines to make, no complicated bills to pay, no bumper to bumper traffic. Simplicity. You may cherish what you have, but not as much as someone who worked their fucking ass off all day in the hot sun did. They didn't need the luxury, and neither do you.

Cigarettes. One of the most addictive things this planet has ever seen. There is no middle ground. Smokers love them. Non-smokers hate them. Why is it we depend on these cancer sticks to get through the day? It's a never ending circle of wanting. You want to quit, but it's never going to happen. You want a cigarette to relax, but if you never took up smoking to begin with, you'd never need one to relax. The cigarette companies are just milking you for your hard earned money. The government raises the taxes on tobacco, and you gladly pay it. Nothing is going to come between you and your Marlboros. What is the point of this post? Cigarettes are great! Dont worry what people have to say, do what YOU want. Fuck them.

So it's been a full year since Fight Club began. I remember that day when I asked for a hit to wake me up. Ever since that day, my minds been racing, my hearts been pounding, my life has been worth every second. Over the last year, I have met some of the most dedicated men in the nation right here at the parking lots, in the basements, in the alleyways.

Together we have forged to make our lives seem worth living, to make it seem like we are not just put on this earth to push by, day to day, feeling like we have no real purpose, just to be another face in the crowd. Well this is about to change. We have helped ourselves and helped others realize that life can be meaningful and worthwhile.
